Encourage Everyone Please
There is a quote I love by Jen Sincero that is reassuringly accurate in it’s intention. We all need to big each other up, yet many people love to put other people down and destruct any confidence one has. This has happened to me many times and I am learning how to deal with such comments of put-downs.
Many people have low self esteem, yet little ones establish their place in the family at a very early age. In the last year that I helped care for my niece I noticed many put downs about how slowly she was eating, how she irritated people, what she has to do and so on. What truly occurs is that little brain soaks up those comments and it reflects on their self esteem.
What I truly love about being an auntie is the way in which Gracie found such joy in the smallest things, she brings me such joy. It must have been hard for my sister hearing her daughter ask if I would be her Mummy, yet it could also have been received in a positive way that I was doing such a great job as her Auntie that she felt her daughter is safe with me. But she didn’t and restricts my contact with my niece and she often has the urgent need to say that she “is not trying to stop Angela from seeing Gracie” yet she does and continues to.
Being a good Auntie and a good Sister is a hard task, because of the jealousy and the uncontrollable anger of my sister, yet all I do is help, support and encourage. At my niece’s school I have been asked by parents to give a talk at her school but my sister does not want me to be there because in her eyes I am ‘false advertising’ because of the fact I have to claim disability and that my work in the creative industries have not taken off as I would have wanted it to BECAUSE I WAS AND AM DISCOURAGED BY FAMILY. Let’s encourage each other.
The truth will always come out and believe me, it truly will. Because I encourage, am positive and I care about people and creativity.
