Creating and Creativity *ideas of playful learning

Yes drawings from little ones are often very ‘messy’ but be patient, all those marks are your child developing their hand to eye co-ordination and the magic they see of mark making which to them is brand new.

I recall as a little girl seeing my Mum draw something and it was like magic, her hand and finger were making magic lines and marks that awe inspired me. Due to that I loved writing and drawing, and oh yes that’s possibly why I am an artist and qualified Designer! Also her Dad, my Grandad Eric was superb at drawing and I recall him draw a Dr Foster of Gloucester who stood in a puddle, which I loved so much.

You see even as a tiny person barely 2 I recall these moments, your child may do so too. And of course the quality of life we bring to children often develops in those early years.

The way we communicate and develop our learning is in these early years, so do not underestimate the brain power of that little one, and of course if you think about it, they have to learn so much, in such a short amount of time. Give them all the praise you can, and remember that whatever you focus on is always going to attract more of that.

Being creative is also about being observant, recall the times you have had to learn something new, that before you learn, you also define what you want to learn and don’t; what you want to learn more about will either enhance your life in some way or it will bore you and it will be tough to study, but we all can see the sense of applying ourselves to learn.

Creativity is all about communicating ideas, and clearly what helps in these early days is about mark making and play! And we all love play! Next time I will share a moment of Gracie’s playful learning.
