Things that make you go humm...

As an auntie I love singing and dancing with my niece, and when she was small we would sing on the bus together the usual nursery songs and have fun counting. It is such an important thing for children at all ages to sing, talk, and be themselves to learn by doing to talk or babble on, never take this for granted, always praise and listen and join in… (if required by the child to do so!)

Always make sure you are a figure for your niece or nephew to look up to, they see you as the insight to their outer-world and as such be prepared to be silly and play, also to be someone they can be themselves with.

Encouraging them to find and express themselves as individuals who are worth a listen and have fun with, and treat them that they know that they are the experts of their selves. Recall those who you can just about remember as a child who treated you as a positive person and use them as your guides.
